Women's Hell (Piekło Kobiet) plunges us into 1930s Warsaw. Helena Wróblewska, a columnist for Fortuna Amandi magazine, navigates a world where glamour masks a ruthless reality for women. After the tragic death of Zuza during a clandestine abortion following a rape, her brother Emil, a medical student, dedicates himself to defending the right to safe and dignified abortions. Set in pre-World War II Poland, Women's Hell resonates with contemporary debates surrounding restrictions on abortion rights, particularly in the United States. Inspired by the famous 1929 essay by Polish writer Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński, which already denounced the devastating effects of the abortion ban, the series powerfully reminds us that women's rights remain central to major societal issues today.
